Dowland's Lachrimae is an iconic work that defies the 21st century concept of sound bites or tweets. Slow, rich in harmony with time for contemplation, the sonnet that the original song was set to speaks of the pain of love lost. This beautiful program featuring Montreal's renowned viol consort alternates Lachrimae Pavans with exquisite lute solos under the masterful hands of Nigel North.

Our intimate and beautiful, period-instrument Messiah returns after last year's sell-out. A full performance of Handel's beloved work with Rosa Barocca on period instruments led by Claude Lapalme. Join La Nef as they explore music of the sea with capstand shanties, halyard shanties, laments, forecastle songs, short haul shanties: hear the rich songs and music that accompany a sailor's work and play. Inspired by this tradition of maritime music, Seán Dagher, the troupe's musical director, has arranged these songs to display all the warmth and depth they deserve.
