Monteverdi Vespers of 1610
Co-presented by Spiritus Chamber Choir
with VoiceScapes & The Whole Noyse (San Francisco)

Come hear the original “surround sound” music that reverberated through the San Marco Basilica in Venice 400 years ago! Grand in scale, Claudio Monteverdi’s masterpiece incorporates soloists and chorus with virtuosic instrumental writing. A masterpiece of spiritual and emotional depth, this is the first time this work is being mounted in Calgary with period instruments including cornetts, sackbuts, curtal, recorders, violone and theorbo.

They will also perform works by the French composers Jean-Philippe Rameau and Joseph Cassanéa de Mondonville, as well as arias and organ solos by J.S. Bach.
